eLearning Day

GCSD Designates Friday, September 30 as an eLearning Day
Posted on 09/28/2022

Due to expected inclement weather as a result of Hurricane Ian, and in consultation with Georgetown County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service, Friday, September 30, 2022, will be an eLearning Day for Georgetown County School District. All schools and facilities will be closed.

All after-school activities, programs and athletics are canceled for Thursday, September 29 and Friday, September 30. In addition, all activities scheduled for Saturday, October 1 are canceled or postponed.

Information about student learning on designated eLearning days is available online at the GCSD Technology Resource Center. Students in grades Pre-K-2 will receive paper packets or Seesaw assignments to complete. Students in grades 3-12 will be assigned lessons through Google Classroom. All assignments must be completed and turned in within three school days (Wednesday, October 5, 2022) in order for a student to be marked present for the eLearning day. In the event there are power or Wi-Fi outages, extensions to the due date will be announced.

We anticipate a return to normal operations on Monday, October 3, 2022. GCSD district administration will continue to monitor conditions across our county, and if additional schedule changes are needed, we will let you know. Please check local media, the district website, and the GCSD Facebook page for the latest information on school closings or delays.

Occasionally, bus delays may occur due to driver illness, mechanical problems, etc. To aid parents in obtaining information concerning interruptions in bus schedules, Waccamaw Intermediate has implemented a text message service. The bus codes are located on the flyer below; a message will tell you of any delays/changes.

Principal's Message

I am very pleased to be the new principal of Waccamaw Intermediate School. My intention is to build upon the tradition of academic excellence that has been established through the years. We have a terrific staff and outstanding community support, especially from parents who want the very best for their children. A mutual trust has been established between the school and community that we will continue to uphold.

As principal, my door is open to students, staff, parents, and community members. I will work diligently to ensure that our students are afforded every educational opportunity in a safe and caring environment. I will strive to make sure that our parents are welcomed into the school, well informed of happenings and events, and encouraged to take an active role in the function of our school.

Sincerely,

Travis Klatka
